Astrid Nobel was born on the island Ameland, north of The Netherlands. She graduated from Academie Minerva in Groningen in 2007,
after which she attended the postgraduate program DNA at De Vrije Academie in The Hague.
She recently was selected for the 2018 residency at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.
Her sculptures and installations focus on the in-between. Time, memory, opposites and borders or transitory areas are reoccuring themes.
Indissoluble contradictions like dream and reality, before and after, dark and light are united in the works.
Within the artwork she looks for a combined balance or a balanced division, therefore many of the works display different sides,
openings, or counterparts.
Media include drawing, photography, text, lost and found objects and wooden structures.
